A Great Bluegill Pond Getting Better

A little over a month ago we took a guide party to our best trophy-bluegill pond. The biggest bluegill always bite best in the hot months, June through August, and this year in particular we had a cold spring, so it was a little early for them. Our party caught six bluegill 1.4 pounds or better, with the biggest one being a female coppernose that weighed right at 1.5 pounds.1.4 pounds is 22.4 ounces. So we had six bluegill 22.4 ounces or better. We also had a couple break the six-pound-test we were using.Yes, break-offs are a very real thing in a properly-managed trophy bluegill pond.
